Bucharest

Bucharest is not only the largest city in Romania but is also the capital city of the famous European country. With a population of over 1.9 million people, the city is not only the most populous city in Romania but is also the 11th largest city in the European Union.

Established in 1459, the city has a very rich history. The city was elevated to the status of the capital of Romania in 1862 and has been the capital of the country ever since. Situated in the southeast of Romania, the city is close to bank of the Dambovita River. Even though the city has always been home to impressive architecture, the First and Second World War heavily damaged the city’s overall landmarks. Yet, the city has a lot of landmarks to boast and has emerged as one of the major cities in Europe with a unique mixture of historical architecture combined with the finesse and style of modern development techniques.

Being the capital of Romania, Bucharest is the most developing city in the country and is the hub of all administrative activities prevailing in the country. Not only this, the city is also the economic hub of the country with headquarters of most local and international companies working in the region built in Bucharest.

Bucharest has a lot to offer as far as cultural, historical and natural landmarks are concerned. The Central University Library of Bucharest, Victory Avenue, Lipscani, Grozavesti Bridge, National Arena, Parliament Palace, Romanian Athenaeum and Basarab Overpass are few of the biggest tourist attractions in Bucharest.
