Cairo

Cairo is a city located in the African country of Egypt. This city has an estimated population of about 17 million people which makes it easily the most populated city of Egypt. Cairo also holds the honor of being the capital city of the country as well and is considered to have one of the strongest economies in the region.

Cairo has a rich historical background that dates back to the 10th century. The city has had a strong Islamic influence which is evident from its buildings and architecture. In the olden days when it was the capital of the many dynasties of Muslim rulers, Cairo flourished as a city and became a centre of education and learning. It was in that period that the foundation of the Al-Azhar University was laid which is considered to be one of the oldest universities in the world.

Modern Cairo is a hub for business activities with many filming studios and automobile assemblers having their offices established in the city. Tourism is one of the most successful and progressive industries of the city that has been contributing to the city’s economy for ages. The proximity of Cairo to the ancient Egyptian civilization and the pyramids has made it a tourist destination where people come from every nook and corner of the globe.

Even though Cairo is a very beautiful city, the rapid rise in its population in the last decade has had a very negative impact on its atmosphere and pollution has become a major issue for the city.
