Osaka

Osaka is one of the major cities of Japan and comes under the jurisdiction of the Kensai region. The city is the second most populous city in Japan with a total population of over 2 million with Tokyo being the only other city which has a greater population than Osaka. The city is well-known for its economical importance. Its importance is highlighted by the fact that the daytime population of the city easily crosses 3.7 million people as compared to the lowly numbers at night which amount to only 2.6 million people.

It is not clear as to why the city is named Osaka which usually means a large hill. The history of the city is very vast but the modern history usually tells that the city has been an industrial hub all its life. The modern Osaka came into being in 1889 with the city’s major hiccup coming in the Second World War when the American bombers constantly bombed the city in the last year of the battle.

The city has a number of architectural monuments that make its skyline highly impressive. There are a number of places to visit in the city and it is for this reason that the city remains a great attraction for local as well as international tourists. The attractions include the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, Umeda Sky Building, Nakanoshima Park, Nagai Park, the Sanko Shrine, the Dotonbori and Sumiyoshi taisha. These attractions go on to make the city extremely beautiful with many tourists having the time of their life in this city which is very well the industrial heart of Japan.
