Shenzhen, a Fast Growing and Vibrant City

Shenzhen  is one of China’s fastest growing cities with roots going back over 5,000 years although according to archeological research people have been living hear for more than 6700 years to date. This city at present is one of China’s main economic zones and developing very fast in keeping with other major cities in the world. In Spite of its traditional history and culture Shenzhen is very much a modern city which strangely enough has fake structures depicting the Eiffel tower and the Taj Mahal among others.

A city with over twelve million people living in it, Shenzhen is on the boarder of the New Territories of Hong Kong with most people visiting China regarding it only as an industrial hub and a place to do some decent shopping.  But this is far from the truth because the present day Shenzhen is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city that caters to the modern day tourist in every way possible. Apart from the unrivalled shopping it offers to visitors, there’s so much to see and do here although the natives of Hong Kong who eye this new city with envy and suspicion will not agree with me.

A visit to the Citizen’s Center which is located in the Central Business district will provide you with a startling glimpse of this new and modern Chine which is no different to some of the major metropolises around the world. Although this place isn’t of any cultural importance, it’s worth taking a stroll down the street to observe the impressive lifestyles of the young generation and their way of dress that can   be a challenge   to fashion models in Paris or New York.

You might also try visiting the Diwang Building which is a 69 floor skyscraper   regarded with pride by the locals as a symbol of their fast development.  There’s a viewing deck on its 68th floor which is worth taking a ride to for a panoramic view of the entire city spread out before your eyes.  Right opposite this building is a multi storey shopping center which attracts locals and tourists alike even though the prices of clothing items etc are highly over priced and not worth the money you pay.

This new city is well laid out with its Lyechee Park being the ideal place to take photographs in the backdrop of flowers and many man made traditional style bridges.   You can also take a boat out on the charming lake within the park for a leisurely cruise or simply chill out with friends while sitting out on benches provided for this purposes.
